I do agree that link building is not a simple work.
On the other hand, i would like to said that everyone will like to link with you if your site is potential and able to provide them a benefit. People who just concentrate on link building will always fails because ROMA not build in a day, site need a strong basis then only able to stand long.
Of course, everyone likr to find reciprocal link partners with high ranking sites, and most of them are fails. What can the site owner do is continue improve your content, if you have certain amount of visitor and getting famous, they will come back to you because your site now is in high value.
If you want to get more value, you must first have value.
