It depends on which server you're hosting your website and what rights do you have for that server...
Standard way is doing FTP and get all the data on your local system. It works for windows, linux or any other OS.
Alternatively, If you're hosting on linux servers and shell access is enabled,
you can use putty to transfer data using shell command ...
on windows servers, you can use RDP (remote data acesss) to transfer content... | |
