Does anyone know a rough estimate for what is an industry average, or a good CTR to aim for? Obviously not based on any data that would violate an AdSense TOS.

Depends on the niche you're in. Some keywords that are easy to get traffic for often have low CTR and low revenue per click so a 1% CTR may be good.

Other keywords attract less visitors but you can get very high and profitable clicks.

My guess would be average CTR is somewhere between 1-2%.

i think mostly the CTR is lower than 5%, and some good site might have up to 15% in average. If your CTR is less then 1%, then you should optimize your placement and setting

ideal ctr should be 5-10%
no way more than this..if it reaches above 20% for 2 days they will bann your account,so try to keep it as low as possible and just increase the impressions on your adds

i have 10% CTR on my adsense search and have less than 2% on link ads.
dont know why, guess i got much from adsense search
