Hi there,
I have a Flash based site that has hidden HTML content... A bit of javascript on the homepage basically redirects the user (instantly) to a Flash version of the site if Flash is detected but will stay on the HTML version if it is not. Since Google etc doesnt read/follow javascript then it just sees and indexes all the HTML content, following all the links etc on the HTML homepage.
What are the views in this method? Is it considered a 'black hat' tactic or is it more of a grey area? Will my site get penalisied if Google etc find out?

So far it has worked pretty well in terms of getting the site ranked, some key phrases returning the site on the first page in the SERPS - I know there is a userbility issue in the fact the user cannot click the back button to return to the previous page (we have actually been banned from Adwords before because of this).
Personally I always like to recommend not using a Flash site if
SEO is a priority but sometimes that just isnt an option!
Thanks for the feedback!
Tom
