is my favorite lately. Take their number for traffic and multiply it by 1.25 . I have many websites and they are all almost exactly 1.25 times the number compete.com has.

As for Alexa, I recently tried running Rank Enhancer (blackhat tool) for a week on a new site and it put me in the top 100,000 in Alexa even though I actually had less than 1,000 visitors.
It confirmed my suspicions about Alexa ranking.
Also, another nasty thing about Alexa that sellers of downloadable products need to realize....
Where search engine spiders look at ROBOTS.TXT to find which directories and files need to be kept out of the index, Alexa seems to ignore ROBOTS.TXT and indexes whatever page a person with their toolbar views. This means searching Alexa will often have your download/thank you page. I checked this out and even found an ebook for sale's download page on how to keep your download page out of the SERPs.

You can find this info on a hundred Rapidshare link soaked forums out there. If you read this and you don't contact Alexa to make sure they don't do this to your product, it's not my bad.
