Default How to access database through ASP?

I am using microsoft expression web and I have NO ASP experience.. I have created a mySQL database and I am putting news articles in there, I want to be able to scroll new news stories on a page. So I have my database setup but I have no clue how to access the database and have the data show up on the page. I tried using the ASP controls in expression and I inserted a new data source but it only wants to know where a file is and does not give me an option to connect to my database on the server, any clue how I can get this to work?
