Investor's Business Daily - Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher said last Tue.'s surprise 50-basis- point cut in the fed funds rate should help the U.S. economy grow faster than it was before the decision. "There was room to cut, the question was by how much. We decided by 50 basis points . . . that was to provide a little more oomph to economic growth," he said. Markets had expected a quarter-point cut. Fisher said future rate moves could go in either direction.
