Rep Power: 0 | | Windows Vista vs Windows XP Currently I run a 3 year old Intel Celeron D with 512 RAM. I need a new computer...bad...real bad.
In most of the new computers though they offer Vista only and I've heard that Vista causes a heck lot of problems. At least when it first came out.. i'm not sure how it is now.
My plan is to buy a 3GB RAM Intel Core 2 Duo...would Windows Vista cause me any problems? Would it be better to downgrade to XP? What are all your experiences with Vista? |

Rep Power: 27 | | Re: Windows Vista vs Windows XP With the new computer vista should run smoothly. I use Vista since Sep. 2007. I was disappointed at first because of the extra memory that it uses, but overall, Vista is the same as XP. I have a good anti-virus and that makes things really easy. |

What are all your experiences with Vista? | We just purchased a computer like you described in your plan and we have Vista installed on it. Because we got 3GB of Ram it runs pretty quickly. I wouldn't get anything very small to run Vista. I haven't learned all of Vista's good and bad features yet though. My husband and I trade off between the new computer and this one which has XP on it.

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Windows Vista vs Windows XP I personally prefer Win XP Professional Genuine a lot over Vista and there are a lot of reasons behind it, first of all is which the Vista just is like show off thing, eats away a lot of RAM without any definite or useful purpose and as a new OS it has a lot of vulneberability, security issues and bugs in it. And also a lot of old applications doesn't support this OS. And I have also heard a news that the concept was stolen from MAC Leopard OS and they fired a lawsuit against MS for this. But Leopard is lot lot better than Vista I can also suggest that. |

Rep Power: 141 | | Re: Windows Vista vs Windows XP Well, the biggest problem for Vista is you must have minimum 1G RAM (suggest to have 2G RAM). It need ton of memory to run the programs compare to Windows XP. Fortunately, this problem are going to solved by installing the Service Packing 1 (SP1) which already published by Microsoft currently (Whoever not yet download can go to the Microsoft home page and look for it).
Another big problem is seem Vista is not yet generated, and Vista do not support some of the programs
