Default Spysweeper or Windows Defender

I've been using Spysweeper on my older Dell for a few years now and it keeps the spyware off my computer. We just got a new Dell which has Vista on it and it came with Windows Defender installed. Will Windows defender work as well as Spysweeper? Do I need to make a change? Let me know what your thoughts are. thanks.
