I think so, if you can write some good contents,you can get more traffic,but if you get the traffic from manu surf, you only can get certain traffic, and no more traffic you can get.

Well directories and article submissions are quite important and unique way of getting traffic to your blog/ site. Moreover the visitors are unique visitors who were looking for the same content so naturally they would be looking to extract more info from our blog.

Besides the directories and article submission, SERP also one of the effective way to get unique traffic.

If we are talking about traffic for blogs, then can include social media sites such as technorati, stumbleupon, digg or forums dedicated to bloggers such as blogcatalog. They can help in blog traffic. General forum like this one is more for PTC or investment programs. This is my personal opinion. Could be wrong here.

However, since many people have heard about blogging and that it can earn money online, more people are interested to talk about this at all places. I am earning almost only from blogging now but I still find this forum friendly. So I will stick around here for a while.

I like to write but I have no idea where and how to get people to come and read what I write about? I tried opening my "own" website but alas I failed at that since the people I opened a "free" website with does not allow visitors to my site without them also joining first and opening their own sites..so I have no "guest" signatures there..lol..wish I knew more about blogging or where to blog to be more exact...lol

Seem everyone is talking about get the traffic, there is few easy way for you to get traffic which is most effective:
1. Concentrate on your keyword and leave comment on similar post which do content same keyword. This might improve your SERP
2. Social media is another strong weapon to gain traffic, try ask your social network's friends visit your site or submit your article to social bookmarking such as digg
3. Youtube video is also another best way to gain trffic. Do not forget to leave your link when you upload the video
