"ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Motorola based microprocessor designs Board level designs including digital and analog subsections using schematic entry tools Develop CPLD and FPGA logic architecture, code, simulation, and verification Hands on bench testing of new designs for compliance to design specifications Complete documentation throughout design and development cycle from theory of operation to test specifications Responsible for communication and coordination with Software, Hardware, Integration and Test, System Engineering, Validation, and Manufacturing teams throughout the design and development cycle Coordinate with technical team members design reviews, feature specifications, etc. Attend meetings, report progress, and take technical leadership to troubleshoot and fix defects. Provide guidance and mentoring for junior engineers hired into the team who may be tasked to perform some of the above duties. Help investigate and collect information to resolve process or design issues found on a current design or in previous designs. Assumes other duties as assigned" "SKILLS High speed logic and board level design of networking equipment with an emphasis on microprocessor based subsystems incorporating programmable logic devices. CPLD/FPGA design using synthesis tools with the Verilog hardware description language Use of standard bench level test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other supporting equipment. Knowledge with digital and analog communication methods including RS232/485, T1/E1, Ethernet, GbE, 10GbE, DS3, SONET/SDH, ATM, ESCON, FICON, Fibre Channel, and other storage area network protocols. Strong hardware analysis, design, FPGA/CPLD coding, testing, and documentation skills. Ability to resolve complex issues that may require design trade-offs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of using software tools for analysis, development, testing, and debug. Minimum 6+ years doing hardware design from requirements, detailed design with schematic entry tools, PCB-CAD layout requirements definition, and prototype testing for verification/correction to final design release. Minimum 6+ years tools experience using FPGA development tools with Verilog HDL.
