Yes it's like trying to make friends with them and treat your visitors like they are at home. That way, they will always come back for more. Comments that they left at blog posts should also be answered by the owner.

Blog is for sharing the views about some points. Therefore the main part is to capture something new which can attract the visitors. Content is King for sure therefore unique and fresh content will do the job.

I think that the sense of humor is important. Without it, articles are to boring. But the thing is that it depends from blog to blog and from author to author. The key is to have captivating content. Each author has it's own style .
Yes, that why getting their attention is very important. Usually visitors will start to get bored after a certain time, and if you want them to continue reading further, basically what we need is humor. Nice one Argilius
I got no blog but if i would read it (sometimes i read parts of blogs on forums) then if the text is to long i stop reading of if the titel is "Welcom to my blog" you expect a atrikle of (example) 50 lines but if you see it and it 500 lines i not even start to read it....
