Default Keywords Weighting

Since it is my understanding that your metatag keywords should appear in some fashion on the page, my concern is how best to do that, to satisfy Google?

If I have the keyword combination, "pet art" in my metatag, for example, what is the most relevant means of validating that same phrase within the page? For example, does Google weight it's use in your actual text more highly than it would weight it's use in an image "alt" tag? And, if use in your text is weighed most heavily, do links from that text carry more weight that non linked text? In fact, while I'm thinking about it, how relevant is assigning "keywords" expressions to your individual page's html file names...such as "Pekingese_pet_art_samples.html" or "pet_art_samples_page1.html"? Is that of any use?

Is there any point in naming image files with keyword expressions, such as "Pekingese_pet_art.jpg", or "Pekinese_pet_portrait.jpg", if you're also going to use pet art, in some way, in your image "alt" tags, and beyond that, in text identifying the image, Pet Art of "Bijou", a Pekingese, for example?

I worry, too, that I may be overdoing the keywords bit, by using those keyword exressions in my page titles, page html file names, image "alt" tags, image file names, and linked text. How is the best way to use keywords in your creation of a page and it's elements, and when is Google likely to downgrade you for using those keywords, over and over again, in every component of a web page? What is the best way to validate your use of a particular metatag keyword string, and how much is enough...?

For each image wrap it in a link anchor tag and hyperlink the graphic (suggest using a thumbnail arrangement where a smaller graphic on the page is hyper-linked to a large image). Title, heading and anchor text all have heavier weighting according to the crawler.

I hope this helps.

As for the second part of the question -

' How is the best way to use keywords in your creation of a page and it's elements'

The best way to use them is to keep them relevant, only use a meta keyword if it is in the body/title of your document, and remember to use the most relevant keywords the most (it should not exceed about 5% of the words on the page however). It usually works best if you focus on the three main keywords.
