I was about to place my first Google Adwords ad when I saw that the
My Ad Campaign screen shows Content network "
Google partner sites that show your ad" as
ON and there does not appear to be a way to turn it off.
When you click the help link for "Content network" there is another link that eventually takes you to a "Where will my ads appear?" window.
They go on to explain that "Your ads may appear alongside or above search results, as part of a results page as a user navigates through a site's directory, or on other relevant search pages. Our global search network includes Google Product Search and Google Groups and the following entities:" (and then they list a whole slew of partners such as nytimes, aol, shopping.com, compuserve etc.
I am confused because if I sell deep fried widgets, and carefully select a few keyword phases that I want to pay for clicks on
GOOGLE, why would I be asked to pay for someone clicking my ad that appears on a miscellaneous page on one of the
partner websites (
not Google)?
There must be something I am missing here - can anyone who uses adwords straighten me out?
Thanks
