Well so far all the article directories which I've come across is free. In fact you can submit as many as you want because they won't charge you. Best thing is that you can always place your links at the end of the article.

I agree with you Zenneth. I get almost all my web traffic from sites like ezinearticles. But the thing is that it depends on the type of content that the site contains. For example a picture blog will most likely have a hard time finding article submision sites where that kind of conent is aproved.

Hi argilius, not necessarily means that way. I know there are lots of sites that submit to article submission directory and the only thing that they need to get listed is having a good quality content. You could just write about anything and even if your website is mainly about picture, just write an description/article to explain them.

That's an interesting concept. I think I get where you're going. It all falls on how good is the content. Article Submission is the way of getting traffic IF YOU HAVE GOOD CONTENT. To bad there isn't something similar for pictures...

Well, just come up a nice descriptions based on the pictures. No matter what it is, you can always create a nice content to explain it. It's not very hard and if you are diligent enough coupled with good imagination, that would work.
