I have never seen anyone using oracle for online application. I have seen that mysql and mssql. Why is that?

Because Oracle is not free or Cheap. Companies with very high exposure use Oracle applications for their e-commerce sites because they can afford it.

Oracle is widely use in big corporations. That's a truth. It's because of it's stability and great performance. However, all these doesn't come cheap and it's a proprietary DBMS. Hence, not much ppl use oracle if they're can't afford it or have other reasons.

Heard of JSP? It's actually can use oracle as its database backend without you knowing. So, oracle do play important roles in online application. As for mysql, it's open source where you can get it free and cheap.
