It's always a good idea to check on your competitors site. By doing that you will know what you may have missed out not doing at your site. Apply their method and sometimes you will realize there are so many things you can apply and incorporate to your own website.

Sometimes, what I will do is, I will also submit the site address to check for its backlink. That way, I will know what is the site submit to and how it manages to achieve high PR based on the links that it gets. Helps me to learn a lot.
