I've basically promoted 2 shopping sites that are completely developed in FLASH. Basically there are no guidelines or docs available for this work... but i did it myself using backlinks, meta tags, blogs ... most of them were traditional ways of promotion.

Yes you can always do that but you have to take into consideration whether the site can be optimized to the maximum? Usually sites based completely on flash takes a very very long time to load and bear in mind there are many surfers out there still using slow internet connection. So this might not be a good idea after all. But if the client insist on it, then you have to do it for him.
