Not very usefull. It gives just the basic information how its formed and how its used, the history etc... I think anyone who is buiding websites knows it. If you want to know how to OPTIMIZE meta tags you should look for a SEO resource not the informational one.

I agree that wikipedia can give you basic concept. However, you can not get more then that from wikipedia, i suggest go for some specialist website or forum for more details if you are interested on this
