Well, I was always submitting my websites to search engines but I didn`t get that benefits needed to gain traffic and attract more visitors to my pages !!
So, I finally noticed that submitting to every search engine is an incredibly time-consuming process. Search engine professionals know that the vast majority of these search engines have a very low usage rate and will drive hardly any traffic your way. In fact, it's only a handful of search engines that drive the majority of traffic from search engines to websites.
What do you think about that ?

If so easy to get tons of traffic, then nobody will go for SEO. You need to work for it after you submit the URL to the search engine. If you doing good, then you can see the benefits in future.

Once in the past I have tried a tool which claimed to submit a site in several engines. I have got a massive emails instead of traffic in my email account and all of those were spam mails. I think it is only good for some top search engines.

Well my dear, how can you expect organic traffic coming to your site without its submission to search engines? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. I mean, I have into web marketing and web development since more than 3 years, and 75% of my traffic comes via search engines..I have never seen anyone "not" submitting their site to search engines..you will be loosing a big chunk of traffic by not doing so..I would suggest you to at least for for Google, Yahoo and MSN submission..

I agree, the major search engine is necessary. After that, need to do some SEO and make a great content to gain more traffic. I believed no one can get tons of traffic by just submiting their url to the search engine

Just submitting your website to SE doesn't mean you did the whole SEO process. SEO is an incredibly time-consuming process. It may also take time until you can see the actual result of the SEO.

Yes, that is true..submitting to search engines completes the initial step of taking search engines into consideration, which is very crucial too..after that you always need to optimize your site for the various search engines in order to stand among or above the rest in your particular niche.. Yeah. You are. After submission of search engine. You still need to work SEO. Because even your site is listed in the search engine. But, you still cannot get any visitor if your site is ranked out of 10th or 20th.....

patience is a virtue.. it doesnt come with an instant effect, specially when you do organic seo.. so i suggest do what ever necessary (except doin blackhat) to gain exposure to your site, search engine submission one thing to do.
