Do you all find it is effective to put shoutbox / chatbox in our site / blog?
sometimes, people use shoutbox just to spam their link.

oh yeah! i love having a shoutbox! people can leave me important messages instead of leaving them as comments on the blog entry. and i like the way that it also links the username to the blog of the guest, so that i can also return the favor of visiting his or her blog. i have one in my blog. Yes, I think the shoutbox is an effective tool. Some people have trouble with commenting at Blogspot. Some say cannot read the word verification (which I have disabled now), some doesn't want to have blogpsot account (which my blog enable Open ID) and sometimes Blogspot has downtime. So readers and friends can still have the choice to leave a comment at my shoutbox. My shoutbox can delete spammers, manually of course.

It depens on how big your forum/site is. If it's small i think it's useless but it its a big forum it work ! I have seen people conversating for hours in shoutboxes, if someone spam mostly 10-100 people saw it and report it to a mod/admin =)
