Whats most important when setting up your own website, Website design/layout or usability?. I'm not that good at graphic design and css does that make my site less attractive than every one else?. My question really, is does a site have to be beautiful to be successful???.

What is a beautiful website? If you ask 10 people for a rating you'll most likely get 10 opinions.

Usability is very important and depends on what you'd like to achieve with your site. eg If your goal is lead conversion make sure there's not too many steps before visitors can full in the form.

Depends on who you're looking for. On the whole, badly designed websites are seen as less professional, which can drive people away. Though that should be only a small problem if you've got something to sell. It really depends on what you're offering and who you're trying to reach.

I think both aspect of user friendliness and layout is important. The layout keeps people looking around longer, content and usefulness keep readers returning.

You don't necessarily need a professionally designed website as long as the content of your site is clear, precise and accurately describes what you offer. Client support response time ranks right up there in terms of attracting and keeping clients.
