How much space do you allocate to your content in general. For example I give my content a 35%~40% space from my website, 5% the header and the rest for sidebars and ads.

What about you? Do you have a reason for having your proportions?

For me, I would go for 60% while the rest will be for images, ads, top banners and the rest for side bars. Any reason why you propose to keep to that amount which you mention here? Does a specific contents space means good SEO? Hope to hear from you.

I don't think it has anything do to with SEO. I was just wondering how users think. I mean I remember how I used to surf the net before learning about ads, banners etc.

Content for me means the place where there was text and images. It usually was 60%~70% of the whole screen area. All the links and images from that place were related to the content itself. That's what I thought anyway. Now many people get tricked and click on stuff that is near the content, cose they think it's part of it. Didn't it happen to you to?

That's my strategy. I was wondering if anybody else thought of it this way.

In that case, why don't you just conduct a pool. Create few different version of the pages and then let users pick which one they like the most. That would be more interesting and they can give comments or suggestion for improvements.

nice idea zenneth I might try that on my future websites. The thing is this: users will most likely pick up a design that shows more content and less ads. That's what every user would do. What user wants a clipping banner on the right side of the content?

Great. Maybe you can consider to include me as the participant on your web pool Well it's really hard to guess what people might think and to me, it's better to let them decide and then you choose based on their opinion. The final decision is still yours.

Content gets about 60% of the space on most of my sites, but I think it should maybe be upped, I mean, a site cna look good without being crammed with "amazing" design and suchlike, can't it?
